Whether you’ve stayed with us once or are a regular you’ll have to agree that Florence is a great place to spend your Holiday vacation. Old Town’s already lighting up with decorations. The shops are offering a variety of specials and holiday cheer. The restaurants are decked-out, warm, and serving up some terrific special meals and desserts all to match the season. You can’t help but feel festive here in Florence this year.

When you’re here, be sure to take advantage of those winter winds. They’re lighter than our summer gales, making our beaches a wonderful winter walkway. You might even see a whale spout. The gray whales are already migrating. By late December, whale watchers are sure to spot them. The roadside just before the Siuslaw Lighthouse on the higher cliffs of Highway 101 is one of our favorite whale watching spots. You may even run into volunteers who will be glad to offer their expertise as you search the seas for the gray whales.

Dec. 6: – Yum, Yum – Tasty Cookies!

Time: 11 a.m. – 8 p.m.Who’s the best cookie baker in Historic Old Town? You be the judge as you taste the participating Merchant’s cookies on Dec 6 from 11AM to 8PM. Ballots are available for pick-up and deposit at any of the merchants with a sign in their window. Whether you are 2 or 102, this will be a delicious day for you and for a Merchant to earn the best baker bragging rights!

Dec. 12 & 13: – Where Are Those Candy Canes?

Look for them on Dec 12 and 13 on display in the stores of participating merchants in Historic Old Town, who have signs in their windows. Then pick up a Treasure Hunt punch card at the store, ask the merchants to validate it, and at the end of your fun shopping days, turn it in at a participating store to be entered in a drawing for one of three Gift Certificate Packages.  Young ones can enjoy the Treasure Hunt, but the drawing is restricted to entrants who are 18 years and older.
